Blue Jay

The Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) belongs to the family Corvidae which includes Crows, Jays, and Magpies.

Length. 11-12.5 inches

Habitat. deciduous, mixed, and coniferous forests, gardens, and parks.

Nesting. Nest is a bulky cup of moss, twigs, and leaves, 5-50 ft. above ground in crotch of tree or on branch. Eggs 3-6, olive, pale blue, or buff, spotted with brown and gray. Incubation about16-18 days, by female. Young leave nest 17-21 daysnest after hatching.

Food. Nus, fruits, seeds, and insects.
