Picardy Sheepdog, Berger Picard

The Berger Picard is a medium-sized dog of rustic yet elegant appearance, vigorous, well muscled, well structured, and lively.

This is a very old French sheep herding and livestock guarding dog that was developed in the Picardie region of the north-western France. The breed continues to be rare both in and outside its native France, where it is still used as a herding dog.

This is an active and friendly dog that enjoys children. It is intelligent and independent with a strong work drive. The breed is quite vocal and needs a lot of daily exercise.

Coat - The coat is hard, semi-long, harsh and crisp to the touch. The undercoat is fine and dense.

Color - Gray, gray-black, gray with black highlights, gray-blue, gray-red, light fawn or dark, or a mixture of these shades. A slight white marking on the chest and on the tip of the feet may be seen in some individuals.

Size - 21.5-23.5 inches at withers.
